8. The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde, Goodreads

7. The Scarlett Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne, Goodreads

6. Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, Goodreads

5. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Goodreads

4. The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger, Goodreads

3. The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien, Goodreads

2. 1984 by George Orwell, Goodreads

1. The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus by L. Frank Baum, Goodreads

What is on your list? Anything similar? Here is the classics list on Goodreads if you can’t think of any books that are classics. Besides these ten, there are many more that I would love to read. But these ten do stick out a little. 1984 was my hs bestie’s favorite novel and Fahrenheit 451 was my favorite english teacher’s favorite too. I love the Rankin-Bass claymation of The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus and have always wanted to read the book. I need to finish The Hobbit before the third movie comes out!
